Is alcxmntr.exe bad???

  1. Hey guys,
Awhile ago I had had a question on whether I had malware on my computer. Howard had told me how to get HijackThis, and I had installed it and posted a log. If I remember correctly, he had told me to get rid of alcxmntr.exe, which, from what I've seen, is a Realtek software monitor (my onboard sound controller uses the Realtek AC'97 codec). Now I keep seeing this as a running process in Task Manager. So is this spyware or something I should be concerned about?

    thx

You should delete it, if it ends up messing up sound I can give you a .zip file with the Realtek AC'97 codec in it

    -edit-

I looked on google and found out it was a malware

It`s not particularly bad, but it does phone home frequently and therefore it`s classed as spyware.

Deleting it won`t harm your system.

    Regards Howard :)
