Joe Biden calls game developers "little creeps" who make titles that "teach you how to...

"And at one point, one of the little creeps sitting around that table, who was a multi- — close to a billionaire — who told me he was an artist because he was able to come up with games to teach you how to kill people.” -Joe Biden

Not a fan of the guy. As a politician, maybe he could have left "little creeps" out. But certainly, this is a creepy thing to say and the title of the article misrepresents who said what. More BS propaganda...Everyone just wants to get paid and don't care what they put into the world in doing it.

I mean, technically he is right about "teaching you to kill"... US submarines can now be controlled with Xbox controllers (look it up - controllers could be made to work, were much cheaper, and required much less training), so technically, yeah: kids playing Xbox can take those skills and apply them to warfare.

However, I don't think this is what Biden was referring to - or that he was even aware of this.
I wonder if subnautica players could wipe an entire army

I only have on thing to say if it's not okay for games to have violence in them then it's not okay for movies and books to have them either. Just because it's a medium he doesn't like he doesn't treat it like the rest of them and it's so ****ing hypocritical.

I agree with what you are saying, but politicians are just gonna say video games are more engaging and that the player makes the conscience decision to click the mouse button, blah balh blah blah gimme yo money blah blah blah

Biden is seriously showing his age. It's kinda sad sanders is so old, he would maybe not make the best president but man it would be WAY more fun than Trump's presidency and maybe with less war and corruption.

The comics make our kids violent!
The TV makes our kids violent!
The radio makes our kids violent!
The movies make our kids violent!
The video games make our kids violent!

Interesting, these pearl clutchers never cite their horrid policies and treatment of US citizens as sources of violence.

Biden - Old and irrelevant! This lying POS is pure, unadulterated garbage!

Love QUID PRO QUO Joe's bus....."THE MALARKEY STOPS HERE". Yes, we know Joe, when your bus stops, the malarkey gets out.

Not an citizen of the USA so my opinion is worth very little, but Biden does seem like a bit of a kook these days, sure his friendship with Obama was endearing with all the memes, but seems like he is past his best, politically.

Biden is a shell of the man he was when he ran against Obama in '08, and he wasn't even that good then. He is coasting at the top of the polls by riding on Obama's coattails--which is funny, given that Obama only picked him as VP because he thought Biden wouldn't run again and straight up told Biden not to last year.

As to this "video games cause violence" nonsense? It was stupid back in the 90's with Mortal Kombat and Night Trap and it hasn't aged well.

And how do you know this? Provide evidence.
This threads lack of desire to be violence free is evident enough. Though I doubt you can see it.

We spawn violence from birth and do nothing to purge it. But yet we somehow wish it to go away. That is a joke.

If this poor deluded character faces Trump, America will witness a live public execution. I don`t know how a rich old fart talking like there`s still the Prohibition will ever have a chance against "I made you proud again for all the wrong reasons". But what do I know? I`m from Europe...

This article's title is COMPLETELY misleading. He calls A SINGLE game developer a creep. Go look at the original NYT article and / or the Kotaku article. Please change the title immediately, it is clearly giving people the wrong idea.

All of the commenters here not doing your proper research here, shame on you. Drawing an opinion from a single source is always a bad idea.

Well, as I see it, it is going to take something far more expansive to change things. Eschewing violence is not going to cut it. IMO, a complete rework of the world's economic systems is about the only way things will change.

Minimally, the win at all costs mentality has to change.

Notice that even though Biden thinks video games are ever so evil, he is not looking to ban them, but to tax them. Apparently charging people more money for something takes the evil out?

Instead of blaming video games, how about looking at the ways our society has changed in the last 50 years, I.e. both parents working, shrinking middle class, etc.

I get where you are coming from. But the main issue is our ways we haven't ever changed. As long as we live as though, we eat or be eaten. We will never see our way out of this vicious cycle.

I don’t think the article is really misleading. There is a slight wording problem with the title where they could have given some more specifics, but the article still leads you to the exact same conclusion whether or not it is misleading.

In all other respects, he is the candidate with the best chance to beat Trump. So it's unfortunate that he is hostile to the tech industry. Not only did he call makers of violent video games "little creeps", but he had the same phrase for the people behind Facebook and YouTube - he wants to get rid of Section 230, so that businesses like that would have to manually monitor every post. Which, of course, means they would have to charge people for posting.

Society has changed in the last several years. There was much less crime and violence in the 1950s. And we still had a free-enterprise economy back then.
