Kaser Storage Vault not detected

hi

just plugged my KSV through its USB connection to my laptop but no windows popped up to mention that it was detected. I tried with another PC but nothing happened.

given that Windows XP is supposed to automatically detect the USB connection and so the HD, what are my options ?

(the HD is alive and running)

thx

Usually damaged AC to DC converter in the Kaser enclosure
You will need to purchase any other enclosure and mount your harddrive in it

Just unscrew the present one, you might see something burnt out or something

Assuming we've ruled out the computer (tried on two different computers) there are two possibilities.

1. The controller board in the enclosure is bad. (maybe the PSU is bad). Oddly I see controller boards go bad frequency.
2. The hard drive is bad. If you hear clicking or banging noises from the drive this may be the case.

If its the controller and you don't mind voiding the warranty, remove the hard drive from the enclosure.

Now the liberated hard drive will either be SATA or IDE. Assuming your MB has the proper connector you can hook the drive directly to the computer or get a replacement enclosure online (ie: newegg) or a USB to IDE/SATA adatper (ie: newegg). If its an IDE 2.5 hard drive you will need an adapter.
