Laptop can only connect to internet in safe mode

A few weeks ago, my wife's laptop had a problem with malware. Microsoft security essentials took care of it. After that she ran a full scan. Ever since she ran that full scan, she can only connect to the internet in safe mode. Other than that, her computer seems to be working fine.

She has Windows 7 and Internet explorer 8.

Okay, go to Dell's website, find your Dell model and update your system with the latest wireless/networking drivers that they offer.

Let us know if that resolves your issue.

There are 6 different drivers for my model.

I don't know which one to choose.

None of them seems to match up with the kind of router we have.

I don't know if that makes a difference, but I'm afraid to download a driver until I know for sure it's the right one.

The router is not in the equation.

Update the latest drivers or is Dell dating them all the same?

When I tried to download the latest driver, it said it couldn't find the ethernet controller and canceled.

I tried to download another driver, but that one said I needed to activate the wireless switch for it to install. I'm not sure what they mean by wireless switch.

The wireless switch is on the front edge of your laptop. When it is off it is amber but when switched on it is green.
