Laptop on network used to connect to the net, now it doesnt.. help!

  1. well my brothers laptop and my pc are on our network, and one day my bro tried to access the internet on his pc, but couldnt. so i had a look, browsed around tried to connect, and it said something about the DEFAULT GATEWAY being offline... and something about the TCP/IP address.

    can anybody help me please?

    In the runbox type ipconfig /all
    Post the output.

    i typed in ipconfig /all

    and the black box opened and then closed. nothing else has happened.

    Sorry. Try cmd /k ipconfig /all

    "'ipconfig' is not recognised as an internal or external command. operable program or batch file"

    thats what comes up, and i tried typing in ipconfig /all again in the box but same thing happened.

    Hmmm you need to go to Control Panel -> Windows Setup. Check that you have TCP/IP installed.

    What is the default gateway pointing to?

    when i check out the properties of the connection it has all the ip address etc, but beside default gateway it is blank. it is sending data but not recieving.

    Copy the address from the other computer. Go to the second tab to enter it.
