Guys,

I'm at a loss as what to do.

I have been given a laptop for the kids to use.
I was sanatising it. ie removing users/pictures/music etc.
Before doing this though I created an admin account so at least I would have access.
When I had finished I went to shut it down.........a messeage can on the screen saying that the shutting down audio was still running and could not close. Click continue if you want to proceed.
I clicked continue. The screen then showed the logging off logo and has stayed like that for the last 2 hours!
If I press the power button the laptop goes into standby. When I press it again it shows the log off logo.
It will not let me do anything else.

I'll even reset the laptop if I could, but can't

Hope someone has a bit of advice.

It would help if you typed the exact message, not your version of it. :)

you can force a power off (when the laptop is still on) by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds.

Sorry about that. I didn't think it would have caused a problem so I just clicked on the 'ok' button. I couldn't remember the wording then when things started to go wrong. :)

Thanks,

I was holding the power button for about 5 secs and it was doing nothing.

I then tried it for 10seconds and :) :) :)

It's working again now.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'd still be staring at the screen if it wasn't for you.
