Lots of Firefox invalid page faults/instructions

On Win98 PC, 256 MB RAM, virtual memory managed by Windows, I get all these errors. Just the window with the close and details buttons. I assumed this was memory related and have included samples of the two errors that happen.

Someone please help! (I would like to try to avoid getting a new OS)

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox?

Check for any updated version of Firefox.

If that doesn help, I`m out of ideas.

I'm afraid yes..

I've reinstalled quite a few times. But as it's in multiple programs... I haven't reformatted the computer and started over yet, is that going to be what it needs?

That`s a distinct possibility.

I wasn`t aware you were getting errors in other programmes as well.

If a format and reinstall doesn`t help, then I suspect maybe you have a hardware problem of some description.

It could be hardware-related too, for example a bad memory module. When an application is loaded or ran at the bad address, it doesn't get the instructions / data it needs and crashes (very simplified).
