Major upgrade - Windows activation again

Hi all. i just upgraded my system and now windows is saying the product key is in use when i go to activate again. what would i have to do to reactivate?

Even though it might be awkward (at least, I think it's awkward ) - calling Microsoft support will probably help. Simply tell them that you've updated your system, provide them with the appropriate facts (like your activation key) and they'll probably deactivate your old product key!

Or send them an e-mail. No phone-queue's that way.

I'd like to second Lokalaskurar on this one. It's pretty pain-free to do and the only important question they ask will be: "Are you using this product key on any other computers?". Just say no, they'll give you a new confirmation key to punch in and you're done.

I'm with the others, have been through this a few times myself and it usually goes pretty quickly. I use the phone approach and like Rick said they'll give you a long sequence of numbers to enter ... that's about it.
