hey this is my 1st post so dont take it 2 hard on me lol but
i am running windows server 2003 enterprise edition the 32 bit version and i am running 2gb of memory two 1 GB dimms to equal 2 GB of memory my question is if i bump my system to 4 GB or more will the os utilize that amount of memory or will it just be virtual memory??....i know the os i am running can use up to 32 GB of memory but
will my system use over 2GBs of memory? or is that possible 32 gb of memory the OS can support only come into play when running it for a cluster?

thank for your help in advance

32 bit OS in theory can address up to 4gb of RAM. Any ram that is not actively used by the system will either be unused or become virtual memory depending on your settings.

In general, anything beyond 1 to 2 GB is a waste for average computer use. If your system is indeed a server, you may need more. If not, then you are wasting your money.

thanks man
im getting pretty heavy into gaming so if i go over 4 gb it would basically be pointless in that respect??
