Mic works for a couple of minuites and then goes to static

my first post...son got me a gaming headset and mic. This summer I bought a gaming computer from Enu. It has asus mother board ( m2n-sli deluxe ).I think this is my problem. Been looking at forums, asus drivers, talked to enu, the builders, and have not come up with the answer. Mic and headset works great until you use it for a few minutes and then it goes to a load static. The same thing as if you disconnect the mic and plug it back into the board. Well sometimes the mic doesn't come back on until you go back and run the soundmax config.again. Its nice, quite and smooth sounding when you config..then low hisss that gets to a point that makes the mic go CCCCCUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Meter goes off the board. Help! Please!

Try updating or reloading the SoundMax drivers. How are the Power settings configured in the screensaver properties?

How's that? You mean faulty components? This is like the 100th thread I've read about bad Asus mobo in the last month.

yes faulty board...changed it out...asus m2n-sli...mic still not right but works.
