Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-022

  1. My computer was burdened with this code the day before Microsoft realeased the bulletin. I have downloaded their patch, but it doesn't 'fix' the problem once this code is executed. I work extensively with these type of art files in my html editor (aolpress) and am no longer able to do so due to the .art image replaced with the code (it shows as a little lightening bolt and a letter 'c' - or maybe that's a phone receiver and not a letter 'c'?). I ahve tried using other html editors and the same thing - no image. It is impossible to design a webpage without seeing the images!

Anyway, installing the patch hasn't worked, and when attempting a 'system restore' (I have Win XP sp2) after going through all the steps it just states that it is unable to restore - which I understand in itself is a Win XP issue on a lot of machines. If I am unable to do a system restore does anybody know how I can 'unexecute' this malicious code and read (view) my .art files again?

    Thank you!
