Multiple OS Install - How?

I have a WIN XP Pro system (hard drive C and want to install and pre-configured DOS hard drive (hard drive D (from a dead system) and have the ability to choose which to boot to at startup. Can someone please explain exactly how I can do this?

remove the xp drive
install your dos
install 3rd party manager like of acronis
I'm sure there are more of'm out there I don't have the time these days to test bed 'm
