My computer will not respond

i have an hp pavilion dv4-1220us entertainment notebook pc 64 bit,it is having problems responding. i am not great with computers but have tried everything. i boot the system when i reach desktop automatically it will not respond and or let task manager close out of anything. whats wrong? what can i do? i keep restarting and nothing same process over and over again. i have anti virus security and it never alerted to any viruses. can someone help guide me through please?

Can you boot into Safe Mode? What anti-virus security are you running?
