My friends microphone with steam/counterstrike

I went into a private chat with my friend on steam and I can hear the feedback of his mic, I can hear when he types and I can even hear the gunshots from counterstrike, yet I cannot hear his voice.. Yesterday it worked fine and now its like this...

Go into options, Voice, and make sure the volume is up. Second, make sure that under Player List he's not muted.

If there is a push-to-talk option, setting that up will make it so you his mic wont pick up any sounds, only when he pushes the hot-key. Feedback can also mean his mic is faulty, a new mic will resolve that. and some mics are not compatibile with certain pcs, and some are not even ment to be used for pcs so if he has a mic that is not designated for pc feedback will occur.
