My hard drive light blinks every second or two..

New problem...

My hard drive light blinks every second or two, and is accompanied by the 'reading hard drive' sound.

Why is this?

More importantly - can any of you please help me fix it (i.e., stop it from blinking / reading the drive every second or two)?

simple fix...turn off the computer

no seriously, even though you arent using the computer , it is still working away, reading and writing to the drive, windows doesnt stop just because you arent using it.

There are many processes running on the average computer and its these that are using the drive.
