My monitor display has split in 2

  1. I have searched the web to solve this problem, but I don't know what to call it. My display has split in half: the bottom is at the top, the top is at the bottom, and there is a black space in between. I tried the monitor on a different computer and it works fine.

Can anyone please help, as this is driving me nuts!

I haven't done anything. One day I got a warning that a usb device wasn't recognized, but I had not plugged anything in, so I have no idea where that came from.

    What is on board graphics?

Is that where the graphics card is part of the motherboard?

the monitor is already on the blue port.
I don't remember exactly what the error said and I don't remember if it was the same time as the screen malfunction, just that it didn't make sense at the time.

I have to sign off now, but I will check back tomorrow.
    Thanks so much.

It could be that your graphics card is set to the wrong refresh rate for your monitor!
