Need help ghosting my SATA drive!

I have an 80GB Hitachi SATA HDD that I'm replacing with a Seagate 500GB SATA. I have initialized the new drive, but I can't figure out how to assign a drive letter to the new drive until after I partition it. I don't want to lose 420GB of space so what can I do? need help fast because I need to have this done this weekend!

I am Ghosting with Norton Ghost 14.0.

Please HELP!!!

Would it be possible to take the old HDD out, install Windows on the new HDD, then reinstall the old one and commence Ghosting from there?
