Netbook windows clean install, with external optical drive

  1. So I went out and bought a external cd drive with advise on this board and set the boot order to cd rom first, hdd second... windows xp cd gets recognized but then says setup did not find any hard disk drves. What gives!

    The hdd is there and is not failing so what now?

    Check this out people, after all this I found something and the magic key is

    ALT + F10 which is Acer eRecover Management -- know about it and now I am scared once I do recover the data I want to do the clean install because I am sure this recovery program is on a partition somewhere and i will lose it if I choose to clean install..

    Not all computers or laptops can boot from an external CDROM optical device. The Acer eRecover is on a second partition on the single hard drive, separate from the C partition, so just run the recovery program to restore the laptop to how it was when you first bought it... This is a clean install
