  1. Hi everyone!

I have a laptop that has xp windows. I have a new router netgear and it shows that I am connected but when I pull up IE I receive a " page not found error. I did Ipconfig and got the message that "no operation can be performed on LAN while it has its media disconnected". Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

    Thanks

    Lindie

It means either the cable is disconnected, your NIC is disabled or you are unable to obtain an IP address. Try assigning your NIC a static IP address within the range of your router. Your DNS Server should be your router.

    Does this make sense?

Best way to fix this and to solve this riddle, is to connect the wireless laptop directly to the Router though ethernet LAN cable. If you make a connection through the LAN and get IP then try to enable the wireless and see if the wireless see it also. When both wired and wireless make a connection, then you can unplug the wired connection and let the wireless connection take over.
