New build, no display: mobo or cpu?

Help! Building the following (all new components):

Athlon 64 X2 4200 socket 939
Asus 8n-SLI
ATI X1800 aiw
Antec 450W SP-
2x corsair CMX-512 RAM
..some other stuff

On power up - MOBO LED lights, fans come on everywhere but absolutely no display and no beeps

Troubleshooting so far:
- monitor works
- tried a really cheap PCI video card instead of the PCIx16 monster - same result
- if I take the RAM out I get beeps (suggesting the mobo is at least doing something and the speaker is working)

So I'm thinking the CPU is dead. Is that likely? Are there other things I can do to figure out whether it's something else?

Did you remember to connect the power supply to the motherboard's white 2X2 connector located near the I/O connections (upper left)?

Yes

I did remember, and have checked that I'm getting 12V on that connector. Have dis/reassembled everything, tried running as barebones as possible, and out of the chassis. All to no avail

Found the problem

The lithium battery was low. Replaced it, and the thing booted fine. Now if I can just get these *&*&)_ing RAID drivers to work...
