New graphics card

i have a asus p5pl2 motherboard and needed to replace my graphics card.
i have done this and now when i boot up i get 1 long beep and 3 short beeps the comp boots up no monitor. if i hit the reset after the beeps my comp boots up fine and works good. any ideas as to why at start up it doesnt see my graphics card but does after reset. thx all any help is good.

Those beeps are BIOS beep codes and depending on the BIOS you are running they are designed to tell you of a serious issue with your system.
