No Man's Sky refunds: Steam says no special exemptions; other sites reportedly offering money back

I think refund time should be extended on a game like NMS , nothing near 50 hours as that is silly . As other posters have said not pre-ordering is the sensible thing to do , if any game in recent memory had big warning signs about it , it was NMS.

you guys can keep repeating "ahhh they lied they are liars and scammers" but if you want to accomplish anything besides feeling better about yourself you have to stop looking at what journalism sites said and look at what the devs said. They were unclear about some things, especially multiplayer, but the journalism sites are what got everyone hyped about promises that werent actually made.

using the "lol ignorant" insult is not an argument and never has been. Resorting to name calling and insults when argued with is immature and the reason no one can agree on anything.

Did you get paid by them to talk huge amounts of bullshit? They were never "unclear" about things, they were straight up lying. Journalism sites and people made the hype because of all the promises devs made. To be clear, I am not one of those people and I never get hyped for games like an *****. I never said you are "lol ignorant", again you're just making stuff up. Sorry if I my ocsasional cussing hurst your poor feelings.

Shahid Ahmad has called players who ask for their money back after so many hours of game time “thieves.”

stopped reading here... wow, REALLY?! wtf where does this guy get off on this shat?

If we were thieves, we wouldnt be TRYING TO PURCHASE THE GAME LEGITIMATELY. Which I tried through Steam, because I found out they will actually give you a refund, and not just credit to your Steam account. Game was no better, of course.

This just reinforces pirating. Wont refund money for shitty games? Just pirate it... you are going to get called a thief either way.

This is why I wait to get these games at 50-75% off on steam. I don't think I've paid more then $15 for a game since I got Skyrim when that first came out.
Ditto on waiting. May be months or years behind, but richer and more problem-free as a result. lol

Game is an unfinished mess. Modders will make it good, maybe, but we will see.
Sean Murray did lie about numerous features, I am not sure why people are defending him.

This game should of been no more than $10-20 US. It is not a good game and I am sad I purchased it.
Learn English please. Should have, but never should of.

There are a lot of crappy games in this world. No man's sky delivers on what it promised, which is vanilla to a degree not many have experienced before.
If someone offered you 18 quintlion dollars, would you complain that each dollar was the same, aside from serial numbers?
Please, if this game has disappointed you in any way, read books, Watch movies, go experience the real world, do anything to stimulate your imagination, because when you think about infinite universes, you should never think that most of it is exciting, but actually the exact opposite.

I couldnt read past your dickery. shucks...

I knew this was going to be a shmozzale of a game this was the most over hyped game in a LONG time and one thing I have learned over the years hype never lives up to reality in anything. And no I never pre-order anything now and I wait for sales and get them cheap I have always prefered it if we could try a demo but I see most times now you can't get one so yes I wait now.

Developers that release unfinished games and sell them at full retail price are thieves themselves. A fine example would be The Division.

I played about 2 hours of NMS and I think that was enough time to determine if I'd like the game or not. I didn't like the game, so I asked for a refund and was appreciative of receiving one.

I think players just want a finished game and try to make themselves like it despite the problems, but then after so many hours, they just get so sick of all the bugs, unfinished content, ect... and become angry and feel that they deserve a refund for an unfinished game.

It doesn't really matter how many hours you put into it, if the game isn't fully tested, works properly, and has all the content as promised, the customer SHOULD get a refund..

Even to this day, I still feel robbed with The division. I've got nearly 1000 hours played and now the game isn't even playable due to all the exploits and bugs. The game is broken, and that's why it's nearly dead. I sometimes wish I could get a refund to some how get back at Massive for releasing an unfinished game at full retail price!

Selling games isn't about selling HOURS played. If the software is BROKEN, then the customer deserves some sort of a refund! Maybe not a full refund, but a partial refund. You sell me a half finished game, I deserve half my money back.

I have received two refunds from Steam. One was a complimentary one in their words and the other one was after I made a fuss and told them how many thousands of dollars I have spent on Steam. I received my refund after that.

If the seller lies to a customers promising multiplayer and other missing features you're always eligible for refund. Not that Sean did it on purpose, he just has the "molyneux" syndrome. Shame sony marketing made 60$aaa out of a 20$ indie but I guess they made enough money and name for a second game that they wont have to find other jobs yet.

I still haven't played it but when did he promise multiplayer? Every time I tried to find out if there was multiplayer it was made clear that due to the size of the game that it's unlikely you'll ever see anyone. I've known this for months before its release and this information was not at all hard to find.

"Shahid Ahmad has called players who ask for their money back after so many hours of game time “thieves.”"

No, you know who the thief is? The company that was using false trailers and doctored footage, along with outright lies, to sell a game. AKA sony and hello games. They are the real thieves here. Is it any wonder this guy is a former employee?

I don't think they've promised anything that hasn't been delivered (Multiplayer was never advertised, quite the opposite actually). Maybe there was some hype that players misinterpreted, but I've always understood that it's a "shallow" SP exploration game (which I could care less about without, at the least, a modding community).

You're joking, right? Watch Angry Joe's review. He covers everything that was promised and then inexplicably removed for release. The point is, they sold a game that was not the game players ended up with.

In the linked video, in the article, it shows clearly (with comedic effect) the creator answering the question, "Will there be multiplayer?" in an interview "Yes."

Hmmmm... I watched and I can honestly say I had never seen that guy make promises in any of the videos that I watched in normal news. Unfortunate for a lot of people, and a hard lesson on pre-ordering or day one buys when the studio is unknown.
I was interested in it, but it just seemed too grand for an unknown indie game...

Well, I would complain if I was being told that those 18 Quintilian dollars (please learn to spell Quintilian correctly) were all supposed to be different and offer me vast worlds to explore, possibly with my friends, while joining factions, having huge space battles, exploring ship wrecks, hacking locked doors, listening to radio chatter, interesting crafting and survival and then offering nothing of the sort?

I must apologize, my imagination is fairly bad these days because I am used to playing games that do a good job of immersing me in a world where other people IMAGINED the content then created a competent, fun, believable world to play in.

In fact, I imagine you to be about 47, bald, fat, a virgin, living in a dirty apartment with KD boxes in the corner and with the bad smell of 5 day body odor in the air, jumping up and clapping as the 35 Billion cells in your brain fire with joy as you discover all the uniquely boring planets this game offers. I am sure the simplicity involved here just blows you away.

Clearly I need to go into the business, sell $60 games to people and tell them to "imagine it!".

"No Man's Game: Imagine it!"

You should learn how to spell words, especially when criticizing the very word you spelled wrong. Here's a reference for you. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_large_numbers
Yes, you can craft things in the game. Yes you can have battles. Yes you must work to survive. Yes there are puzzles to solve, although they are pretty simple so far.
