No network for multi-boot setup

I have three partitions on my disk drive; Vista on C: and XP on D: and E:. I have this multi-OS setup for testing software on "clean" systems. I can boot any of the three, but the two XP systems have two weird behaviors.

First, I can't see my network. Vista can see my network just fine, but not XP. I've been through the network setup wizard a couple of times with no luck. "ipconfig" does nothing.

Second, XP is v..e..r..y s..l..o..w to scroll a command window when doing, say, a long directory listing. Once the window is filled up, it produces about 2-3 lines per second.

Might those problems be related? I can live with the slow command window scroll, but I really need network access from all of the OSes.
