NT Kernel & System

  1. Hi there
I've noticed in Windows Task Manager that there is Process that pops up called simply "System". It's description is "NT Kernel & System". When I try to end the process it simply starts straight back up again. Hardy little beast. When I right click on it to try and establish its owner I get nothing. It completely ignores me. It uses about 2 to 5% resources....no big deal but I'm concerned it might be a virus. I'm running Vista premium, NOD32. Google doesn't really come up with a generic result. Any help very appreciated.

If it is the actual kernel, you can't stop it. The kernel is the heart of the os and pretty much has control of everything. Normaly it does at least.
