ok here goes

first I want to say thank you to peterdiva. thanks to his help I believe my previous problem is solved. However, in my quest to solve that problem (IRQ more or less error message) I updated my graphics drivers to the 94.24 forceware. Since then I'm getting a new error message. nv4_disp.dll. I have a BFG Nvidia 7800 gs oc graphics card and I'm running win xp sp2. rather than simply rolling back the graphics driver I was wondering if anyone had a recomendation for a specific driver thats particularly solid.

Try updating it again to maybe a later version of forceware???

I've seen this error also. It occured with a GeForce FX 5200 AGP and with GeForce 6200 AGP.

I see a correlation. All three cards are AGP. These drivers must have issues with AGP cards.

ive upgraded to the latest version of forceware (94.24) and I still got the error. Now Ive rolled back to a previous version (93.81) so far so good but im still holding my breath! Anyone out there with any further insight into this problem Id love to hear from you. As always, thanks for all the help.
