Nvidia expected to rebrand canceled RTX 4080 12GB as RTX 4070 Ti for January launch

AMD can win this generation hands down. Maybe this is their chance in a decade to destroy Nvidia in sales. They only need to price things right and people will flock to buy their cards. Don't be greedy, AMD, see the big picture!

Lol, How does Nvidia explain away a big price drop by simply changing the name on the box?
They dont have to, their loyal influencers (sites, writers and Tuber) will make sure that we all end up wanting to give nvidia more money..
Coming up next : The 4080 price drop. Whether you use AMD or not, you gotta thank them for soon to be reduced prices of Nvidia GPUs.
The proper way to thank AMD is by buying AMD. But we know that everyone wants AMD to force these price cuts, just so the loyal fanbois give their money to Jensen and company.

That people are complaining about pricing is ridiculous. Who says you have to buy?
See my first response above.

Vote with your dollars, folks.
Yes, directly to nvidia of course!
Whoa, whoa, whoa.....slow down there. The 4080 12GB is looking to be rebranded to a 4070Ti? Dafuq....

From the 4080 12GB DLSS 3.0 graphs, the card is roughly around a 3090 performance.

This means the 4070Ti is roughly 3090 performance. That's about 10-15% over a 3080.

That would mean the 4070 will be right around the 3080 performance? That sounds week as F because Nvidia will be asking for $699 for a 4070.

Anyone wanting a high-mid ranged Ada card, just do yourself a favor and see if you can land a 3080 10/12GB or 3080Ti for around $700-800 and put yourself out of the waiting misery. Don't support Nvidia's awful Ada lineup and price gouging.

The 3070 gave you 2080 Ti performance.
The 2070 gave you almost a 1080Ti performance (roughly 10% behind, but at least 10% faster than the 1080).
The 1070 gave you 980Ti performance.
The 970 gave you 780Ti performance.

Sounds like the 4070 will give you less performance uplift over all the other xx70 series gave when compared to previous generations and cost you more.
And this is why we are screwed, long @ss post and not one mention of one AMD gpu. No matter how you slice it, you are going to keep giving nvidia money.

Stop buying Nvidia GPU's, Jensen is a greedy bastard.
Empty minded drones cant stop themselves.

My dollars vote RDNA 3.
A man with a brain and a strong moral compass.

That would be some sweet karma, but as you can see by the loyal rabid followers, they will simply keep giving nvidia their moneys regardless.

oh... QQ! AMD isn't mentioned in your post!

Last I saw, this topic was about the rebranding of Nvidia card. Do you need someone to talk about AMD for you so you don't forget about them? Do you need someone to convince you that AMD is a better choice?
Let's see how many times I can include AMD in all my sentences here so I appease you.

AMD isn't Nvidia, so I guess they have that going for them. Nvidia is rebranding the 4080 12GB, much like people predicted they would, but you don't see AMD doing that. AMD....
AMD....AMD, AMD, AMD!

Capitalism is based on selling a good product at a better price. If you don't respect that law, you will go sooner or later on bankruptcy whether you be Nvidia, MS, Intel or even God-like Corporation.

Nvidia is not going Bankrupt.

Lower the price, why? They could even raise the price and people wouyld still but it.
I am confident they will keep raising the prices. After all, they do what is best for themselves.
One of the outcomes might be that people stop upgrading their computers often.
I mean we have it already judging by steam's statistics.
But it is possible that this trend goes much further, to the point where people throw away their
vide cards when not a single game works on those.

If you could find one at MSRP.

Most couldn't and ended up buying a 3070 at the MSRP of the 3080
Please, we're no longer in 2020. Nvidia is free to believe otherwise though, I have a feeling outside of their most hardcore fans who all must have gone to volunteer themselves as 4090 beta testers, not a whole lot is just as 'loyal'.

Price will be $799 at a minimum and still be p!ss poor value. The Lovelace cards cost them a lot more than AMD so they can't compete on price and sucked in to the scumbags.

Exactly like that the future is, higher prices, less performance difference.

You're not wrong, but remember, you can only vote for what's on the ballot. Ask anyone who's voted in a recent election, but they can probably tell you: just because a candidate is on the ballot, doesn't mean they are a good candidate, even for the diehard fans of that particular "party". And so it is with technology. To vote with your dollars, you must have something worth voting for.

I think no surprises here. Nvidia pulling the RTX 4080 12GB just means they will rebrand it to a lower tier card. Unfortunately, I am not expecting price to change regardless of the name change. The only reason that Nvidia will drop price is more likely due to AMD having a more compelling product at the same price range in the form of the RX 7900XT. But that really depends how competitive is the performance of RDNA3.

Have to be honest with myself and admit that I enjoy high end gaming more than I hate corporate greed and Nvidia. I'm gonna buy a 40 series card 1 way or another. Just don't know exactly when or what I'll be willing to spend when the time comes. I can also admit that this mindset is a huge part of the problem.

Had enough of all this chat about the top/middle end cards, most people are interested in what you can get for a couple of hundred bucks not several multiples of that. What will be the new 1660S or 6600XT and when will we get it?

Big Problem is they'll only have 50k of them at launch and not make any more until sometime midyear. Main reason they're not reducing the 4090 price is the Hopper using the same chip is going for 10-20x that and they can't keep them in stock so they're doing the right thing in "F the consumer" as the Data Centers are willing to pay as much as the miners did so we'll selll everything to them. If they want Nvidia, they can buy the 3xxx series at the inflated mark ups we're pushing them at.

AMD has a real oppurtunity to take lots of market share from Ngreedia with the 7900 XT/XTX cards and when they announce the rest of them, they'll be competing with Intel, not Ngreedia who seems to be conceeding the consumer market
