Nvidia's RTX 4070 consumes just 186W while gaming, leaked slide reveals

There should be quite a noticeable difference in performance, based on the specs -- the 4070's FP32 throughput and texel fill rate are 27% lower (pixel fill rate is 24% lower) than the Ti's, and it has 25% less L2 cache. The latter will have higher latencies too, as the clocks are lower. And since it's 25% cheaper, there's unlikely to be any cost-per-frame benefit.

It will cannibalize some sales, of course, but there should be a big enough performance gap to not affect them too much.
With 25% fewer resources as detailed by @neeyik, it's likely to be around 20% slower. So more like 35FPS slower compared to the 170FPS of the 4070 TI, or about 135FPS. Near or below the 3080 or 6800XT.
You are both closer to the numbers than I was if the first leaked Geekbench of this card is reliable. It has this card equaling the 3080 10GB at 1440P. I was hoping for better. =/

Instead of reading "RTX 4070 consumes just 186W" my first read was "RTX 4070 consumes just 18GW"
So 186W for a 4060, not bad and inline with 2060 and 3060.
Exactly, basically in like with last Gen and higher than AMD last Gen.

Basically it looks just like a RX6800XT or maybe even the 6800 depending on the game.

I've been playing RT games at 1080p with an RTX A2000, roughly 3050 level performance and even then I can get over 60 in everything but CP2077. People get obsessed with Ultra everything but with optimised settings and DLSS Q (which since 2.5.1 looks fantastic at 1080p now) it's really quite easy. Hec Doom Eternal was 120-160fps, Metro EE was 65-90fps, control 70-80 and so on. CP2077 was around 50 solid and felt super playable. Some people just draw arbitrary lines in their mind where on one side something must or must-not be playable anymore, I say the proof is in the pudding.
Idk DLSS 1080p looks rough.. In quality mode you are playing at 540P basically... That is terrible. There will not be far level details because simply there aren't enough pixels to extrapolate the data...

I agree you can play around with settings for massively better performance VS running ultra since typically ultra isn't optimized at all in any way.

At 1080p DLSS isn't good, it's too low of a resolution for it to do it's magic, which is rendering the game at an even lower res. And then you lower the settings additionally all to have ray tracing enabled. That is not "optimizing".

Ofcourse, you can play however you want. Enjoy ray tracing at medium preset rendered at 720p.
Oh man DLSS renders internally at a lower resolution? thank goodness you told me.

What I've described is exactly optimising, do you ever follow optimised settings guides? that's exactly how they work. And I don't need anyone on the internet to tell me how DLSS looks, I can see it with my own eyes and 2.5.1 is great at 1080p, comparable to native. I don't draw an arbitrary line in my head about how the pixels are rendered, I just judge the output. This seems to really bother people.

Sure thing. Make sure to also run DLSS on performance mode, gotta optimize! Ray tracing on 360p fixes all the other shortcomings.

I tweak settings on my own but resolution is the last thing I'm going to sacrifice.

Exaggeration and false implications don't make you look smarter.

See that's the thing, I have 20/20 vision, I've done the comparisons myself and seen others from reputable publications, I'm not making a sacrifice. But hey, if you want to die on that hill and never touch excellent contemporary upscaling solutions, then enjoy that sacrifice.

Hard disagree, highly comparable to native, but with extra performance. If you own an RTX card, go see for yourself, drop the 2.5.1 DLL in and enjoy.

I'm not dying on any hill, it is known 1080p isn't a good resolution for upscalers and is blurry. If I was you I'd just play my games how I want on upscaled "1080p", with ray tracing, whatever. I wouldn't try to debate people about how it looks when we all know it's a mess.

You can believe what you want to believe, I'd highly encourage you to look at publications that have reviewed DLSS 2.5.1 or other DLSS games with that dropped in. Mess is so far from how good it looks it's not even funny. I'm not debating this with you, I wouldn't be playing this way if it was 'a mess' I'm telling you it looks comparable to native, believe me, don't, I don't care, but you have zero power to tell me how my games look in my set up. If you own an RTX card, try it for yourself, but I get the impression that's not possible, people that can't play with it themselves love to tell me how much of a mess it is.

I can't play games on upscaled 1080p? I guess I need a better GPU.
