    PartitionMagic-Me replace w/ XP on C

I have my hard drive partitioned as follows: C = Win me(original OS), D = Data (All created files), E = NTFS (don't use), F =Win2k (OS that I use), G = second hard drive, H&I = CD and CDRW.

I would like to reformat C and install XP. Is that possible?

Another concern: PartitionMagic is installed on C:. If I re-format C: will the partitions I created be OK?

You shouldn't have any problems. After you create partitions with PM, they will be there whether PM is still there or not. If C: is the only partition you'll be making changes to, it will be the only one affected by those changes. You should be able to simply format C: then install XP, or if you prefer, you could upgrade to XP from ME, though I would recommend the clean install.

Thanks. I've also heard that a "clean" install is best.

Yes it is, especially if you are starting over. This will ensure there are few, if any, flaws druing install. Whereas if you upgrade it can have some potential problems.
If you have a choice of upgrade or clean install, always choose clean install.
