OK, first my system specs: 3.2 Pentium 4, chaintech nvidia 6600gt, SB audigy2, 2Gigs of Ram, 80G WD SATA HD, Asus P4S800D-X mobo, 450W power supply, dvd-rom, dvd-r, 3 case fans, usual fans on cpu and vid card.
Now my problem- whenever I play games like Everquest 2, the game freezes, nothing on screen moves and there is a high pitch whining noise coming from my speakers. I have tried switching my RAM sticks with each other in case one has a bad sector and no dice. I have tried taking out my sound card and using onboard sound but no change. I have tried unplugging 2 fans and dvd-rom and nothing. My guess, as well as someone I've been asking help from, is that either my sound card is bad or I dont have a big enough power supply. If any more info is needed to see what the problem is just post it asking for it. FYI, I built my own PC.
