My desktop wont switch on when I press the button,I have tested the CPU and it works ok,

Check connections from wall outlet, thru to PSU. If UPS is there a battery charge issue? Is PSU on? Does the fan in PSU spin?
Need much more information to give help beyond that. History of the problem - how it developed - does it beep? - does it flash an LED? - what tests have you done and what results?
History of the machine - maker & model for PSU, motherboard, CPU, video card, etc - what OS?

Did the circuit breaker trip and shut off the power to the outlet?

Is there a switch on the back of the pc that needs to be turned on? That happened to me years ago.

The power supply switch, next to the cord that plugs in.
Good, thought, I try that after ensuring the wall has power in it.
