Need help understanding what these mean ide? ata? sata? sorry if this is not in the right section looking to upgrade my hard drive and trying to learn a little about these things at the same time. Thanks for replies in advance.

Ide uses a 40 pin ribbon cable that takes up alot of space and restricts cooling.
Sata uses a much small er cable (about the size of mini usb) that reduces clutter in your case, improves airflow, and each drive connects directly to the mainboard or PCI controler eliminateing the need to jumper drives for master and slave.
