Power Up problem with new PC

I have assembled a new computer with new hardware including case, MB, CPU, Video card, memory purcahsed at Fry's, I was very careful to hook up the case compononts to the MB panel 1 front panel header by pin # and +,-.
The one difference was there were two case leads Pwr LED +, Pwr LED - which my motherboard panel 1 had no pins for, the only remaining open pins on the panel were FP PWR/ SLP which I placed these pins on thinking PWR LED was the same as FP PWR. The problem I have is when I turn on the computer using the front panel button the CPU fan only turns about two revolutions and stops and nothing else happens. Anyone have any ideas?
Jeff
