I needed to install SQL server 2000 on windows xp professional for developing asp .net web application using c# .net. i tried to install sql server 2000 enterprise edition. but it showed this message "Microsoft SQL server 2000 enterprise edition server component is not supported on this operating system, Only client component will be available for installation." I dont understand what i should do. I mean for now i just need SQL server to use developing asp .net web application. so would it be fine for asp .net appication if i install only client components of sql server 2000 enterprise edition? I read the previous forum with same problem. So would i really have to install that MSDE version of SQL server on windows xp porfessional or it would be good enough if i install only client components of SQL server 2000 enterprise edition? plz help me with this.

You do need the server components on your PC if you are planning on writing a database client app so you have to install a version of MS SQL that runs on XP.

    SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition

Try using the SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition.
It has all the features of an Enterprize Edition.
It is much better suited for a personal computer.
