problems with a NEC ND-3520A DVD-Burner

  1. well i have been having trouble with my dvd burner... I used everest ultimate edition and i got the following info out of it...

    _NEC DVD_RW ND-3520A (DVD+R9:4x, DVD-R9:4x, DVD+RW:16x/8x, DVD-RW:16x/6x, DVD-ROM:16x, CD:48x/24x/48x DVD+RW/DVD-RW)

Now i have burnt DVD-RW before but i just recently purchased a whole pack of 25 Sony DVD+R 120min/4.7GB AccuCORE discs (1x-8x compatible)...

according to everests list of info, my burner doesn't support these discs.
when i insert them, the nero item comes up and asks if i want to create a new disc. i go create new data disc and it comes up as if it were a CD. what should i do? does it mean i can't support these DVD+R discs?

I have also just found this...

does it now mean that i can burn DVD+R discs at 16x and DVD-R discs at 16x?

Oh and i am using Nero OEM v6.0.0.16...

check for a drop down and reset it to dvd
I have 2 of those burners ,bought from newegg,
both burn dvd-r and dvd+r plus upgraded to the dual layer support all A OK, am now using sony dvd+r's and some imation -r's both burn fine .I do set them at auto burn
and I am not using nero anymore for DVD's I use
    DVD-shrink and DVD-lab
    set your burn to 8X
