Problems with missing/corrupt system32\DRIVERS\pci.sys

Hello,

I've googled this problem up, but none have seemed to work for me at all. When i boot up my laptop (IBM Thinkpad 570E) it gives me the error message "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: System32\DRIVERS\pci.sys

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair." or its just a black screen.

My laptop, unfortunately, does not have a cd drive or a floppy disc drive, i've tried plugging in an external cd drive, but it didn't seem to read the cd at all. So right now i'm completely clueless as to how to fix this big black paperweight. I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone can give me some pointers on how to fix this. thank you.

You probably need to go into the computer BIOS and set the first boot device to the CD-ROM, and try again.
