Radio wave shielding

Lately (last couple of days) I've noticed that when my speakers are on min volume, I can hear one of the local radio stations through them. (more noticable with headphones). When I do some gaming and turn them up it can't be heard (but obviously still there), so my question is what would be an effective form of shielding. Someone I spoke to stated that it might be the modem picking up the RF.

I've hear of this before & probably not the modem. If the speaker wires are close to 31" long, they tend to act like an antenna for FM frequencies. I think the fix was installing an inline resistor.

Would this have an effect on the overall system performance, (such as the RF's interfering with any system components) or is it just like a free radio.
