Random Blue Screens

Don't know if this is correct forum for this problem, but have to start somewhere. I am getting blue screens for a couple of months now and suspect an outdated bios. I installed XP SP2 and have had trouble ever since. I also had several viruses before I installed my firewall. One of the viruses could have made changes to my bios.

Going back to factory specs or back to an earlier date have failed to do any good. In fact, I no longer have a partition with any of the backup information on my C drive. It was all lost when I did a restore, using my CD set.

Look like you are using Systemax laptop

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition or Professional Service Pack 2 has lot of bug issues about laptop. Please reinstall or fresh install Windows XP sp1. Best idea if you use your Systemax Restore CD with Roll back wizard (if available) and force Windows XP to use SP1 instead.

P.S. did you get the laptop with windows xp sp1 installed? if so, keep it without get sp2.

Restore CDs that came with PC don't work, and I don't have XP Home on disk. What next?
