In brief: Razer has introduced a new mechanical keyboard that is compact in size but big on customization. The Razer BlackWidow V4 75% comes pre-loaded with Razer's new Orange Tactile Mechanical Switches Gen-3, which are said to feature a higher bump point and a cleaner sound profile over the previous generation. The board's socketed PCB design supports 3-pin or 5-pin switches, allowing users to trade them out to further dial in their desired feel and responsiveness.
The board is constructed of 5052 aluminum alloy with a gasket-mounted FR4 plate and utilizes two layers of sound dampening foam. One layer is stuffed between the PCB and the FR4 plate, while the other is situated in the bottom of the case to reduce reverberation and pinging. The PCB is also tape-enhanced, we are told.
Razer said the board's plate mounted stabilizers come factory lubed for smooth travel, but you can swap them out for screw-in stabilizers should you choose to do so. The smaller 75% layout is said to provide all of the essentials while also giving gamers "maximum mouse maneuvering real estate." Despite its small size, Razer found room for a multi-function roller and dedicated keys for media control.
The board additionally features Razer's Chroma RGB lighting – two-sided, in fact, with underglow and per-key lighting. Other gaming-minded features include Doubeshot ABS keycaps, N-key rollover and anti-ghosting support, fully programmable keys and up to an 8,000Hz polling rate.
Razer's new BlackWidow V4 75% is available today in solid black priced at $189.99. A white colorway is also in the pipeline but it won't arrive until mid-September, and you will have to pay an extra $10 for it. Pricing includes a magnetically attached plush leatherette wrist rest.
The V4 75% joins Razer's acclaimed BlackWidow family, which already includes fan-favorites like the BlackWidow V4 Pro and the BlackWidow V4 X.
