Hi,

I'm in L.A. at the moment, trying to fix my cousin's cd tray issue, now its become a rebooting issue. I went into the BIOs and it recognises the HDD. and i set it up to boot from the HDD first but I'm still getting the "Reboot and select proper boot device" error. Is there a way to fix this w/o having to do the windows installer.

p.s. the CD trays are NOT working.

thnx.

select proper boot device
Means it is not finding any valid bootmanager

There are ways to repair the bootmanager, ie

You could try bootcfg /rebuild

But in most cases you just need to select one of the following

Microsoft's Windows XP Professional Repair Install step by step

Microsoft's Windows XP Home Repair Install step by step
