Recovering a lost partition

  1. My usb 3.0 WD Ebook has always acting up on me disappearing from my computer list but normally I can get it working again tho this time I haven't been able to. So I took it out of its case and put it in my docking slot on my case. I have tried several things but I cannot figure out how to get it to work right again. I don't want to just format it and lose all the data on it. Several programs have shown me it is a lost partition but they wanted me to pay to recover it.
Does anyone know of a simple and free way to recover the partition on it?

TestDisk is freeware. It has a step by step recovery guide, but you should be able to just click ENTER for most screens. Then let it recover your partiton

I tried that and it gives me this: Partition sector does't have the endmark 0xAA55

I don't really know but hope that's not a bad indication...

But here's something else to try
    > Run Partition Wizard
    > Click on the MiniTool Partiion Wizard
    > From its menu bar, selectd Wizard->Partition Recovery Wizard

and see what it can do
