Red Alert 2 Installation issue

    Basically, setup.exe of red alert 2 always has a problem on my pc. tried both cds and same for both, changed compatibility and all that rubbish, checked every damn box thats available.
    thing is i downloaded a copy of game and it runs fine BUT i can't get online or add any patches as it doesn't really exist according to oh great and wise PC.. help?

    If its a copy you wont be able to get patches or get online.... ra2.... It was like my first pc game....besides solitaire..
