This laptop will get a BSOD after Window XP Splash Screen, before entering the Windows.

BSOD: Unmountable_BOOT_VOLUME

Then the computer will automatically reboot. So i wanted to do a repair on the laptop. However, it doesn't detect any OS in it.

Thus, i went ahead to create a new partition and wanted to install a new OS.

However, this error message came out.

Error Message:

An error occur while setup was updating partition information on:

38155MB Disk 0 at ID 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR].

Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, Press F3.

End of Error Message.

I am not able to create new parition, nor repair the OS.

Not sure what to do next, i hope to get answer from here.

Thanks.

P.S: This OS is Window XP Pro.

none of it works.

When i tried fixmbr, it says that the mbr is damaged or something and i couldn't continue after which.

fixboot also gives me the same error saying that something is damaged.

chkdsk /r stops at 40% and couldn't continue.

I believe that the hdd is dead. Any other suggestion ?

I've done those steps already and it doesn't work.

I also couldn't do re-installation of windows.

So...?
