Repairing HD sectors

looking for a sooftwar that will fix/repair my bad sectors on my HD. dont say chkdsk, scandisk, some 3rd party software please....reliable and dont care if i have to buy.

What's wrong with chkdsk? Why do you need third-party software...
Much more, why are you willing to pay for third-party software when you have excellent free tools at your disposal?

Third party sector repair software can be ridiculously overpriced, and there are no reliable brands in this business, because you theoretically have everything they offer, for free.

Hi Junkanoo

Chkdsk is your best bet. It's the safest and most reliable as it's part of Windows. To be honest, I didn't know that 3rd party applications existed to repair bad sectors. You could always format your HD :p

Spyder_1386 :)

well problem with me using chkdsk is that i have 2 drives connected that are showing up "unallocated". and its no appearing in "my computer" for me to use chkdsk. so that si why i would like a 3rd prty. and im not formatting for the info on the drives r needed....

bad sectors are PHYSICAL defects and cannot be repaired only marked as bad so that they are not used anymore. Buy a new drive before your HD goes. If the drive is starting to form bad sectors it is on its way to dying. As for software to try to repair and I stress the word TRY there is one called spinrite read more here http://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm

nah wasnt recognising it :(

any software that would be able to get my info off the "unallocated" drives? ocne again dont mind payign for somthing good.

below is a topic i made concerning recovering my drive SOMEHOW!!! lol

um but if any reliable software comes to mind of which i can recoevr my data and transfer it over to this HD i have atm i would really appreciate it. tnx

HDD Regenerator. It can (with a pretty good success rate) repair bad sectors. I've used it in the past successfully. But if you continually have sectors going bad you need to replace the drive.

Naw this is the 1st happening.
but i have resolved my problem.
GetDataBack is awesome is letting me retrieve my data as we speak. so for anyone reading this and having the same issues, getdataback will turn that frown upside down!!! litteralyy
