If you’ve played the Resident Evil 7 demo on the PlayStation 4, you’ll likely understand why so many people are hailing the game as a refreshing change for the franchise, and one of the scariest titles in years. 'The beginning hour' had been a PS4 exclusive, but PC owners will finally be able to experience it on December 19.
Capcom has put a lot of effort into the Resi 7 demo – it’s been updated twice since release, receiving the final “Midnight” update over the weekend. It adds more rooms, endings, and a handgun, all of which will be included in the PC version. The PlayStation Experience keynote also saw a new trailer unveiled, revealing a little more information about what’s going on in the game.
As expected, there will be a host of PC-specific settings and graphics options available for the demo and full title. Capcom published the minimum and recommended PC hardware specs back in September, which are as follows:

- OS: Windows 7 or later
- Processor: Intel Core i5-4460, 2.70GHz or AMD FX-6300 or better
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon R7 260x
- DirectX: Version 11
Capcom notes that those shooting for 1080p at 30 frames per second with minimum specs may have to either lower texture resolutions or disable streaming textures.

Resident Evil 7 moves the franchise from its traditional third-person view to first-person perspective. The series had become increasingly action-packed over the years, but this seventh installment puts the focus back on horror with its Amnesia-like and scares. There’s also virtual reality support to make the experience all the more terrifying; sadly for owners of PC VR headsets, the feature is exclusive to the PlayStation VR for a year.
