Root Virus? P.S. -- can I run the computer at all?

    I forgot to ask, the same friend said that I should stop using the machine. I have files on there that I need for work. Can I use the computer at all? Any precautions -- i.e. don't open files, just save to disc, stick, or don't touch anything becuase it might be contimated and contagious?
