Rootkit problem with my computer - con.nbg file

Hi, I just ran F-Secure Blacklight on my computer to check for possible rootkits and came up with one hidden file called con.nbg. In addition, in the list of processes running, there was one hidden process called vssvc.exe. Do I have reason to be concerned? Can I safely rename the con.nbg file? I did a search on both. Nothing on the con.nbg. the vssvc.exe shows as maybe being a hidden process that microsoft has. I'm a non techie, so this doesn't mean much to me. The computer is a one year old Dell with updated windows xp and appears to run fine most of the time. I do get an occasional hang which I have always attributed to having too many things running at the same time. Many thx for any help.Rob

You need to have a read of this - If your system is infected. Read this before deciding whether to CLEAN or REFORMAT.

Then if you should wish to proceed with cleaning your system you need to go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, Combofix, and AVG Antispyware logs as ATTACHMENTS into this thread, only after doing the above.

thx for your quick reply. I have attached the reports. The computer appears to run normally, so computer security is my principal concern. Rob
