Having just invested in a sacd/dvd-a machine and having heard my favourite band (steely dan) in this format, I have to say that I'm VERY impressed with the results - multi channel music is the way forward as far as I'm concerned but can this format be played on a 5.1 pc setup?

SACD can't as it requires special drives to read the discs, but DVD-Audio discs work in nomal DVD drives. Just that there aren't too many DVD-Audio software players available, and 192 kHz, 24-bit sound playback isn't very popular yet. I'm only aware of SB Audigy2 having DVD-Audio player.

Perharps the reasons for this are

    1) DVD-Audio discs are hard to find

    2) Their target audience is audiophiles who don't listen to them with noisy (electrically and audially) computers.

Oh well, I guess my dvd-a's will have to do their funky stuff on the home cinema get-up.
    Thanks for the info mictlantecuhtli.
