Has anyone heard any negative things about these cards and VIA chipsets? Cause CompUSA is selling them off for 50 bucks and I want to get one but dont want to end up with a white elephant.
in point of fact the santa cruz's strongest point is the LACK of compaitability issues with intel , via chipsets or Windows OS's. unlike some other sound cards (creative)which have been plagued with compaitablity issues and need updated drivers every other week to fix bugs.
Santa Cruz is a pretty old model but nice sound card compared to the newer cards. They have been in the market for quite sometime so its no suprising to see them sold at 50bucks.
It may be an oldie but in my book, this rates as one of the best soundcards around - I use the english version (videologic sonicfury) which is virtually identical to the american model to such an extent that I use santa cruz's driver! I have used it with various via based gigabyte motherboards with no problems so if I were you, I'd snap them up before they vamoose!
Thanks a lot folks... I went and got one at lunch time today. I'll install it on the weekend and let you know how it goes.
if you are running Win XP The Cd that comes with the santa cruz does not have XP drivers on it. you need to go to their web site and download the XP drivers. http://www.turtle-beach.com/site/kb_ftp/585ftp.asp
