  1. The Game Awards 2015, the second-annual video game awards ceremony from creator and host Geoff Keighley, is scheduled to take place in early December from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

This year’s event is expected to draw 4,000 live attendees and upwards of two million online viewers, Keighley recently told The New York Times. That’s up from the 3,500 people that were on hand for last year’s ceremony in Las Vegas.

If you recall, Spike TV hosted an annual awards show (also produced by Keighley) from 2003 through 2013. Ahead of what would ultimately be the final installment, Spike rebranded the format of the show and moved it online.

When Spike decided to drop its support following the 2013 edition, Keighley spent $1 million of his own money to host his own awards show last year. Despite support from sponsors and game publishers, he ultimately lost money on the venture.

The nominees for this year’s event will be revealed later this month and will be selected by a panel of judges from global press outlets. The event’s advisory panel, meanwhile, is a who’s who of video game A-listers including Electronic Arts COO Peter Moore, Xbox chief Phil Spencer and Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot.

Fans will also be able to vote for their favorite games in select categories, we’re told.

The Game Awards 2015 will stream live over the Internet on December 3 starting at 9 p.m. EDT.
