Ok so I just got the SP2 update for Windows XP Professional and when it finished installing it restarted and BAM! It wouldn't start up any more.
It would boot normally untill the logon screen, then freeze. I tried it many
times but only got the same result. I eventually used system restore and here
I am. What is wrong? How can I get the update? help!

If you install Service Pack 2 after there are many programs already on your computer you have a much higher risk of the install not working. If you don't want to reinstall Windows then you have to uninstall any programs/drivers you don't need/use then try to install SP2 with no other programs running, inc. Anti-Virus/Spyware. If that still doesn't work then you could Slip Stream SP2 with your current Windows disk and install it that way.

Ok, I just did the update again, and the same thing happens... I can log on while in safe mode, but when I start windows normally, it freezes at the log on screen. It says it is service pack 2 when I type winver in run. This really sucks, should I use system restore or is there something I can do while it is installed?? help please!!!

Just uninstall it while in safe mode in the Add Remove Programs list.
